A few month ago we set sail towards New York and after 10 too short weeks, we brought back a few things. One of them is new clothes for partiql.com and the other one still needs some spit & shine until it’s ready.
Between the work on our upcoming app and delicious Brooklyn Beer, I’ve put together a new design for our website. It still has some rough edges and will be optimized as time allows. First things first, and right now that’s the new app. Looking forward to tell everybody more about it soon!
There is always sunshine after the rain. Yes, but that implies that it first had to rain, right?
Here’s the story of the rain:
Two guys set out to create a new, small movie theater application.
There are not many around, certainly no decent ones. Unfortunately, developing that application turned out to take more time than they thought and they ended up with more competition than they thought.
It’s not like the other applications are all better, they are usually just cheaper – actually free.
So the server costs are high, the revenue is low, the motivation to push further is even lower, considering that it wasn’t meant to be this one flag ship app, rather something that should provide us some insight into what we’d have to expect.
In order to win, you also have to know when you lost. And this time we sort of lost. We won a lot of experiences and we certainly learned a lot. However, it didn’t pay so far.
Besides that, we are still working on our yet-to-be flagship application. And this time we actually set out to do something big. Expect us!
So, as of today, we declare Showtime as dead. Actually, we took it out of the store a few months ago and watched the traffic decrease to a level that we could agree on letting it finally rest in peace.
It’s been a fun ride, and we are both still very proud of what we achieved, but it’s time to say good bye.
